Running for Us

I’d lost touch with my best friend from grad school, ML a couple of moves ago. He was a year ahead of me and his wisdom and experience saw me through a lot of trying times, from the initial weed-out classes right through failing my general exams. He’s a Philosophy professor, game designer, fiction author, black belt, and marathon runner. (He was the inspiration for, and recipient of, the red-velvet squirrel cake some of you have seen pictures of.)

We recently got back in touch and he sent me his well-wishes, adding:

There is a run here that raises money for research into breast cancer, I run it every year but this year I will run it for Sandy.

Thanks ML! I almost started to cry right here at work when I got your mail.
